UPS Tracking via RSS, Take Two
Posted January 19, 2005 – 12:39 am by Yakov Shafranovich in Programming, ProjectsFollowing up on an earlier post about UPS tracking via JavaScript, I cooked up an alternative server-side RSS tracker via XSLT similar to this one. I used two XSLT templates to create the XML request for UPS and format the response into RSS. I also made a Perl wrapper that runs the whole thing. I plan on making this open source, writing additional handles for other services and writing wrappers in other languages such as PHP, Python and Java.
P.S. Just ran across another one for Fedex. This one parses the Fedex HTML tracking pages which might not be as reliable as the XML service (but hey it works!).
UPDATE: I registered a new project at SourceForge called “track2rss. I will be posting the code as soon as I can get it packages together.
UPDATE #2: Source code and packages released, enjoy! For a demo click here (please do not use for your own packages).
