IETF Approves SPF and Sender-ID
Posted June 24, 2005 – 11:09 am by Yakov Shafranovich in Spam and EmailAccording to the records in the IETF’s database (here and here), both SPF and Sender-ID anti-spam proposals were tentatively approved by the IESG (the “approval board” of the IETF) as experimental standards RFCs. It remains to be seen whether any of them will actually put a dent into spam.

No they didn’t. They approved them for publications as RFCs with ‘Experimental’ status. Not all RFCs are standards. And if you don’t recognise that, you should start by reading RFC1796.
