Good sleuthing work on connecting Walmart to CITM. There are very few check manufacturers left in the US - we know because we are one of them. Even BradfordExchangeChecks has HarlandClarke print theirs.

Walmart having a lower price than the manufacturer should come as no surprise. Their business is driven on volume and their outlandish volume gives them tremendous power when negotiating pricing with manufacturers.

If all you care about is low price, you may also want to look at Costco.

I agree that business checks for $5.96 is the lowest I've seen. The only cheaper option would be to try the Free checks offer at vistaprintdotcom. 25 plain checks for free.

Interesting info about the Walmart checks being from CITM. I never caught that. Checks in the Mail is definitely a big name in the business, this makes even more sense as to why. Walmart is probably the cheapest way to go for checks, the only downside is the limited variety. But for plain business checks $5.96 is hard to beat!
