Is Google Checkout In Legal Trouble with State Laws?
Posted March 4, 2009 – 11:20 pm by Yakov Shafranovich in PersonalAn interesting thing that I ran into recently – it seems that while PayPal and Amazon Payments are registered on a state by state basis as “money transmitters”, Google Checkout is not. Of course for filing complaints that makes things harder since there is no clear regulatory body responsible. That also puts Google into a lot of potential legal trouble. As a matter of fact, the few states in which they are registered, the license is very new – filed in December of 2008 or still pending.
In any case, in this post you will find information on state by state basis where Google Checkout AKA Google Payment Corp. has been registered. I will try to update it on a regular basis.
